HOUSTON, Texas (April 29, 2008) - Spectrum Corporation, a national leading manufacturer of scoreboards, video screens, marquees, electronic message centers and related sports systems, announces the completion of the Dawson High School Baseball Scoreboard located at the new Baseball Complex.
Pearland ISD needed a scoreboard for Dawson High School, so Spectrum with Meador Staffing answered the call to support the community and supply the school with an impressive scoreboard system. The custom inning by inning baseball scoreboard features a red and amber LED combination and a dynamic header with the team name and mascot.
Meador Staffing is a committed supporter of community projects and decided to sign up early as a sponsor to get the scoreboard constructed before the end of the season. “For the 40 years of Meador's history, we have always chosen to support the development of the youth in the communities in which we live and work and Pearland is no exception. We understand the importance of not only doing business in a city, but becoming a part of the city. We are excited to support Pearland ISD and the youth of our community,” said Melinda Torrison, Executive Vice President, Meador Staffing Services. The team showed its appreciation to Meador Staffing with a brief ceremony held prior to the Dawson Eagles versus Brazoswood game on April 15th. Attendees from Meador included Melinda Torrison, Executive Vice President, Katrina Montoya, Business Development Director, who also threw out the first pitch, Sadie Antu, Pearland Branch Manager, Valerie Smith, Sue Shell and Lindsey Coy. Pearland ISD staff included Mike Watson, Athletic Director, Ed Farrington, Assistant AD and Head Baseball Coach Kerry Cox.
As a locally owned company, Spectrum has supplied most of the scoreboards in Pearland ISD and the surrounding districts for more than 30 years. Even though all of the funds were not available to pay for the scoreboard, Spectrum was willing to provide it for the team because several key employees and their families live and attend school in the district. Opportunities are still available to sponsor this scoreboard, as well as other scoreboards at various Pearland ISD facilities that need new or upgraded systems. Spectrum will work with potential sponsors to develop custom packages. Area businesses can sponsor a portion of one scoreboard or package several locations for more competitive pricing.
